Responsibilities:
· Oversee the process flow, keeping employee downtime and defects to a minimum – move from machine to machine, focusing on product quality, machine cycle times, scrap/defects, and operator performance
· Hands on position. Must be willing to pitch in and take care of issues personally. This position requires more than just giving orders.
· Ability to problem solve in order to maximize production is essential.
· Quality checks, follow-up and related discipline of personnel at early stages and in real time.
· Watch cycle times for speed and product defects.
· Ensure all Company policies and procedures are followed.
· Assign employees to machines and duties.
· Give assignments [to Leadhand] and determine whether the work is acceptable. Notify Leadhand on priority machines to be run based on production reports.
· Instruct Lead hands on areas of improvement where required.
· Monitor new employees and support/encourage them through their probation period.
· Ensure that temporary employees have been instructed & trained.
· Resolve employee issues, consistently and fairly, at early stages through close collaboration with the Leadhand and other stakeholders.
· Recommend disciplinary and promotional actions.
· Data entry and trend analysis
Qualifications & Experience:
· Grade 12
· 2 years Supervisory experience; 5+ year’s hands-on manufacturing experience.
· General understanding of how manufacturing processes work.
· Mechanically inclined an asset.
· Injection Molding experience an asset.
· ERP systems experience an asset.
· Able to follow procedures and rules.
· Good plant floor technical skills, good interpersonal skills, and effective communicator – both written & verbal.
